REGISTRY BYLAWS

 
 

ARTICLE I. NAME AND LOCATION
The name of this corporation is the COLORADO MOUNTAIN DOG REGISTRY. Transactions of official business may be located at such places as the CMDR staff designates.
ARTICLE II. Date
The date of Enactment is November 15, 2023.
ARTICLE III. Seal
The seal of the CMDR portrays the image of the Colorado Mountain Dog, and the words, “CMDR Colorado Mountain Dog.”
ARTICLE IV. BUSINESS AND PURPOSE
Section 1.
a.The principal business and purpose of this Registry shall be to unite those
individuals and breeders who are raising and developing CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs according to the breed standard.
b. To maintain the International Standard for the CMDR Colorado Mountain Dog
c. To provide educational materials relating to the CMD, including articles, newsletters, and social media posts,
d. To maintain a public pedigree database,
e. To encourage the adherence of clients to high standards of integrity in the conduct of breeding and business practices.
ARTICLE V. TYPE OF CORPORATION
Section 1. This Registry is formed to operate as an LLC with the powers authorized under the laws of the State of Colorado.

ARTICLE VI. CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
Section 1. Client Classification
a. Clients: An individual applying for and paying the annual Farm Fee and owning or raising CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs, or anyone submitting the annual Farm Feet client fee who is enthusiastic about the breed, and availing themselves to the resources and database of the CMDR.
Section 2. Client Breeding Goals
Clients agree to adopt general good breeding practices, in accord with general principles of population genetics, and striving for the best quality, with the goal of raising dogs to the breed standard. Educational materials will be published towards this goal and available on the website of the registry, coloradomountaindogs.com.

Section 3. Client Business Practices
CMDR Clients are expected to maintain a high standard of ethics and good business practices. We expect sales to be made directly, farm to customer, not through brokers or pet stores. We reserve the right to discontinue registry services in these cases. We expect animals not to be surrendered to shelters until reasonable efforts at rehoming and alerting the breed community have been made. Further educational material and standards pertaining to business practices will be made available by the registry.

Section 4. Expired Client/Farm Fee
Clients who are not current with the Farm Client Fee cannot register pups or maintain a breeders area in the database. Renewal of Farm Fee reestablishes all access. Farm fees expire December 31st of each year.

Section 5. Exclusivity of the CMDR, and Termination of Client Relationships.
a. The CMDR reserves the right to withhold its services from breeders double registering any CMDR Registered dog with a break-off registry or breed, for the protection of the genetic pools, genetic database, and the genetic work of the CMDR community.
b. The CMDR reserves the right to terminate relationships with breeders who do not maintain good breeding ethics or business practices, or who demoralize the CMDR staff or community.
c. The CMDR reserves the right to refuse its services to breeders of many breeds of dogs, or breeders who raise many puppies (puppy mills), or work in an excessive number of partnerships (puppy mills). We expect active genetic goals and involvement in the development and improvement of the breed.
d. Upon termination, annual farm fees will be refunded. No other fees will be refunded.

ARTICLE VII. Staff
Section 1. Staff
The CMDR maintains a working paid staff which handles all registry communication, legal, financial and banking, evaluation of new incoming genetics, maintaining and updating the database, promoting the breed, publishing educational materials, and carrying out all other registry functions with the goal of supporting breeders in the raising and development of the CMDR Colorado Mountain Dog.
